How our mission to empower Canadian business owners and incorporated professionals has continuously evolved
As with most companies that had to forgo celebrating their 25th anniversary in 2020, GBL is proudly celebrating its 26th anniversary in 2021 (and hopefully the final year of the COVID-19 pandemic). We are proud of our resilience and accomplishments, and we wanted to thank all of our wonderful clients for supporting us throughout our journey.
Gordon Lang (founder) started GBL in 1995 and it has evolved drastically over the years evolving from a home-run business to an organization with corporate offices in Calgary and Toronto. In 2017, a new era of GBL emerged under the leadership of Navaz Cassam (current President and Chief Actuary) and Laura Davis (LaRiviere), our Senior Manager of Actuarial Services and who are supported by a fantastic team. Transcending Gordon`s vision and commitment to client service, GBL has forged ahead with a team that is widely regarded as being the best in our industry for service and support. In turn, this has allowed us to provide the best client and advisor experience available.
With 7,000+ clients served and presentations to thousands of attendees annually, GBL has not only become the largest provider of Individual Pension Plans (IPPs), Retirement Compensation Arrangements (RCAs) and Fair Market Valuations (FMVs) of Life Insurance and Critical Illness policies, but we have also expanded our offerings in Health Benefit Plans (HBPs), cross-border consulting services, and pensions for employees such as Defined Contribution and Group RRSP plans.
In the 25 years that have passed, GBL’s sole mission has been to empower business owners, incorporated professionals, corporate executives, professional athletes, and their retirement and tax advisors through advanced retirement and tax planning strategies. Our focus on providing quality, expertise, and value has enabled GBL to grow exponentially throughout its years; and this would not have been possible without the incredible clients, advisors, accountants, and lawyers who we have had the privilege of working with.
